A Postgraduate Degree Can Help Position Your Business For Growth – Here’s Why

2021 has been a year of transition for many individuals and businesses. Vaccines have started to roll out and companies are turning to on-site operations. Changes in consumer behavior that have influenced industry performance and business prospects are stabilizing. Business leaders continue to pivot and innovate.

Remote working, quarantine and social distancing measures have drastically changed consumer demands. As people spend more time at home, their purchases have turned to products and services like smart home technology, home entertainment and health and fitness technology. As a result, the e-commerce, fintech, connectivity and telecommunications sectors have exploded. These trends are distinct in the countries of Southeast Asia, whose young economies are keen to adopt new technologies to solve complex business issues in the midst of the pandemic.

Consumers have also become increasingly accessible. Growing connectivity allows consumers to be more vigilant about the brands they engage with. Raydiant State of Consumer Behavior 2021 Report also shows a decline in brand loyalty, as access to more choices and information made it easier for consumers to switch brands. It is an opportunity for new and smaller companies to compete in the market, and a challenge for large companies.

Changes in consumer preferences have created new challenges and opportunities in the market. Many professionals and entrepreneurs are consider postgraduate studies to develop their business acumen to adapt to changes. Building skills and expanding industry knowledge on aspects such as scaling up operations, managing human resources, and understanding market segments are necessary for businesses to thrive, especially in an economy evolving.

Roberto Ben M. Castro, Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Facilities at Eight Under Par, Inc., enrolled in the Masters of Entrepreneurship (ME) program at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) in 2019 to learn concepts that he could apply to his work and family business. “My learning…. has helped me and our family identify areas where we can pivot our business, where we can allocate our resources and which projects to prioritize. Castro will be graduating from the program this year.

Meanwhile, Grace Locsin, co-founder and owner of FVA Business Consultancy, is part of the ME 2022 program cohort. She has learned to optimize resources while maximizing results. “Our incomes are healthier and I am at peace knowing that our engines are finally improving to fly higher.”

The ME program at AIM’s Aboitiz School of Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship is an 18-month part-time program designed to help entrepreneurs create a solid platform for the long-term growth of their business by using impactful organizational leadership and value creation approaches.
